Traction home lift
Classification :
Keywords : Convet Elevator Group
Product Description
Traction elevators are one of the most widely used and efficient types of elevator systems, especially suited for mid- to high-rise buildings where speed, height, and energy efficiency are key considerations. Unlike hydraulic elevators that rely on fluid-driven pistons, traction elevators operate using a system of ropes, pulleys, and counterweights to move the cab vertically along a set of guide rails. This system provides a high level of precision and control, making traction elevators the preferred choice for skyscrapers, office buildings, and residential complexes with multiple stories.

Working Principles and Technologies
Traction elevators work by using a hoist motor that turns a sheave (a pulley with grooves), over which steel cables are looped. One end of the cables is attached to the elevator car, while the other is connected to a counterweight that balances the weight of the cab and its passengers. The motor moves the sheave, which either raises or lowers the cab, while the counterweight helps to reduce the amount of energy required for the operation.
Traction elevators come in two main types:
• Geared Traction Elevators: Equipped with a gearbox connected to the motor, allowing for moderate speeds and suitable for buildings up to about 20 floors.
• Gearless Traction Elevators: Directly connect the motor to the sheave, enabling higher speeds and smooth performance, ideal for high-rise buildings.
Modern traction elevators often feature advanced technology such as variable frequency drives (VFDs) for efficient speed control, regenerative braking systems that recapture energy during descent, and microprocessor-based controllers for enhanced operation and diagnostics.
Advantages of Traction Elevators
Traction elevators offer several advantages:
• Energy Efficiency: The counterweight system helps reduce energy consumption, particularly during ascent, making these elevators more efficient compared to hydraulic systems.
• Speed and Performance: Traction elevators are capable of higher speeds and greater travel distances, which is essential for taller buildings.
• Space Savings: They typically require less machine room space as machine-room-less (MRL) models can be integrated into the hoistway, allowing for more flexible building designs.
• Smooth and Quiet Operation: Traction elevators provide a smoother, quieter ride due to their streamlined mechanism.
